Released Chapter 19: Kitoushi (祈祷師)
Image: There’re four people seated around a low table. Teacups, trays of onigiri, and ashtrays clutter the table. On one side sits Shiomi and Ume. On the other side sits Tomo and Kan-chan. Ume is wearing a dark plaid lumberjack shirt and jeans. Shiomi is wearing a dove gray sweater dress and white fuzzy leggings. She is handing Ume a lit cigarette. Her long, light blue hair is loose. Tomo is wearing a loose Hawaiian shirt, open in front, revealing a white shirt tucked into white deck pants. Tomo is turned toward the viewer. Kan-chan, a college-age woman, is on the short side with a cute face, and long light pink hair in neat twin-tails tied with red ribbons. She is wearing a cotton candy pink blazer over a fuzzy coral pink turtle-neck sweater. She is pouring tea for Tomo.

Quote: “You think I’m cursed,” I ventured.

For some reason, that brought an amused smile to Kaori’s face. “I don’t know. I’m a kitoushi and do cleansing and exorcisms. You’re thinking of reibai. I can’t read auras, tea leaves, or even crystal balls. Sorry.”

Snarky, I thought. Not that I should complain, but there was a time and a place.
